Togetherness

People come in all different shapes, forms and sizes and from all different nations, cultures and continents. For us to compare one another would be ludicrous.

And yet we do. We have been trained to do so since childhood.  It’s innately human and there are both benefits and cons, as there should be.

A benefit of such comparison is to understand that differences exist between people. The way we look, behave and think is innately unique to the way another person looks, behaves and thinks.  It’s what makes us the beautiful individuals that we are.

But when we place judgments upon these different qualities we begin to separate ourselves from one another. We go from a place of admiration to a place of separation. We go from a place of we to a place of me.

Oneness is a beautiful thing. It unites us, despite our differences.  It allows us to admire and uplift each other with the knowledge that although we may be different, we are all in this world together with a common cause; to live a beautiful life.

Let’s embrace our similarities and our differences in oneness. And when we find ourselves separating ourselves from this oneness with judgment, let’s return to that space as soon as we can with the knowledge that separateness is a lonelier place than togetherness.
