Cultivating Peace

Peace of mind is a wonderful thing. It allows us to function with calmness and empathy and in turn provides us with stability and community.

We all have the ability to cultivate peace in our lives. We all have the innate ability to cultivate peace through each action we take, through each decision we make and through each relationship that we choose.

Then why do we struggle feeling peaceful at times? If we all have the ability to cultivate peace, why do we find it out of arm's reach at times? Well, usually when this occurs it's due to some outside interference. It’s due to something that is beyond our control.

We all may have the ability to cultivate peace, but we don’t all have the ability to maintain it effortlessly. Our communities may be in havoc, or our family members may struggle, or an illness may impose upon our immune systems. These outside occurrences that are beyond our control eventually have an effect on our inner peace in the end.

When this happens we tend to react, when in fact taking action may be a better choice. In order to take action instead of immersing ourselves into reaction we need to remove ourselves from the noise and go within. We need to go within individually to hear our own thoughts. Then we need to go within with close family members, friends or professionals that can help us. In doing so, we will find the help that we need to move forward peacefully.
