Mass Migration

Migration around the world is causing the entire world population to rethink its place here on Earth. Many are migrating for need, others for opportunity and still others just following other people’s lead.

Whatever the reasons for said migration, this migration will surely cause change and maybe even havoc, as it has done in the past. This is not the first time that the world is seeing mass migration.

But, many of us may not remember the last time such migration occurred and may find this change unique. When these changes occur they can be awe inspiring, confusing, happy, sad and every emotion in between. Nations struggle with losing populations and gaining populations and families become divided by distances that before did not exist between them.

These migrations bring with them legalities and hardships, lost lives and lives gained. Migrating is never an easy task with cultural changes and societal differences. It's hard for everyone involved.

But, one thing can be said about this occurrence. It involves people. And whether we are for it or against it or support it or fear it, let us remember that these are people migrating trying to better their lives. Whether they are succeeding or failing, they are migrating to better their lives.

In order for us to best handle the mass migration going on on Earth today, we must remember our humanity. Our ancestors may have migrated, or we ourselves, or we may have known others who have and when we remember these things we can better understand the happenings in today’s world culture and drop our fears and preconceptions and help, either through keeping the issue in our thoughts or physically assisting in person.
